| I wrote this
program for the Physical Education Department at the school I
worked for. Wayne Central
School District. I used Microsoft Visual Basic 5.0, Microsoft
Access and Seagate Crystal reports. The program is
fully functional and is now in the "Tweaking the
reports" stage.
What it is:
The
Physical Education Teachers administer several physical tests to students twice a
year. Their raw scores are recorded and then the
teachers would have to convert the raw scores into a
percentile as published by the the President's Council on
Physical Fitness and Sports. Converting the scores was a
time consuming job and mistakes are easy to make. (Scores
are based on age, gender and raw score) The raw score is
looked up on the appropriate chart and a
"percentile" is awarded to the child.
The Presidential Challenge program I wrote does all the
calculations for you. The teacher simply selects the
student from a drop down box and the students age is
automatically calculated based on the birth date. At the
same time the student information is shown, the National and
Presidential raw scores are shown for what that child will
need to achieve the award.
Once the raw score is entered, the percentile is automatically
calculated.
After all scores are entered there are a series of reports
that can be printed including a report card for the parents of
the student.
Here is a sample screen shot for the Exercise Data Entry
Screen. Click on it to get a full size view.

a list of changes to the program, this is the same file that
